Preeclampsia Can Increase Women's Risk Of Kidney Failure Later In Life, Study Finds
For the study, Bjorn Vikse of the University of Berlin examined two databases to determine the relationship 'tween preeclampsia in pregnancies and the subsequent development of end-stage renal disease, or ESRD. Among all women who had given nativity, the annual risk for ESRD was one case per 27,000 women, and the condition appeared an average of 18 years later, according to the study. Risk for ESRD increased by 4.7 times among women who developed preeclampsia during their low gear pregnancy, by 6.4 times among women wHO developed the condition during each of their 2 pregnancies and by 15.5 multiplication among women who highly-developed the condition during 2 of at least trey pregnancies, the study institute.
The researchers wrote that the "inviolable risk of ESRD in women wHO have had preeclampsia is low, [and] preeclampsia is a marker for an increased risk of subsequent ESRD," adding, "The association was stronger if the preeclamptic pregnancy resulted in a down birthweight or preterm infant." In addition, researchers wrote that whether preeclampsia helped caused ESRD, or whether an rudimentary factor caused both conditions, remains undetermined (Emery, Reuters/Boston Globe, 8/21).

Metallica Saves Death for TGIF
Metallica is over again going against the grain.
The hard-rocking isthmus has followed in its own footsteps and announced a Friday release date for its ninth studio album, Death Magnetic. The album hits both touchable and digital shelves Sept. 12.
Three days later, the full album will become an optional download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of the Rock. (No word yet on whether the video game tracks' Sept. 15 release will likewise be bumped up.)
James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo also chose to skip the traditional Tuesday or Monday debut with their last exertion, 2003's St. Anger, reckoning somehow that a Friday bow would stop more than pirated copies from circulating.
Either way, this isn't the first example of Metallica wanting to get its music extinct therebut not too much.
The original Napster bashers incurred the wrath of several U.K. medicine websites afterwards Metallica's management asked the bloggers to pull any early reviews of the tracks that would eventually make up Death Magnetic.
Metallica characterized the whole thing as a misunderstanding and encouraged the sites to resume their critiques.
The stripe, which latterly finished shooting a video for the album's first single, "The Day That Never Comes," is scheduled to wager Ozzfest Saturday in Dallas. For a fee (of course), you can order an MP3 file of the public presentation from LiveMetallica.com.

New York City singer/songwriter Nina Nastasia creates informal, ghostly music that evokes some preoccupied, skew have on Americana and that is often laced with haunting strains of genus Viola, violoncello, and bowed saw. She counts among her admirers the notoriously fussy, celebrated producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies), world Health Organization engineered her number 1 two albums and wHO has vehemently song her praises. Nastasia's debut, Dogs, was released in 1999 on the lilliputian indie Socialist Records, just was out of print by the destruction of 2000. For April 2002's The Blackened Air, she signed with Touch and Go, which released her follow-up recording, Operate to Ruin, in 2003 (also recorded by Albini) and a reissue of Dogs in summer 2004. Though she unbroken the rest of her transcription partners (which let in Albini and drummer Jim White [Dirty Three]) the same, Nastasia stirred to Fat Cat for 2006's On Leaving and 2007's You Follow Me, the latter a songwriting quislingism with some other Jim White, this time of the Southern gothic singer/songwriter multifariousness.

Christie Brinkley - Brinkley Calls On Affair Girl To Testify At Divorce Trial
The woman at the centre of CHRISTIE BRINKLEY's forthcoming divorce battle with estranged husband PETER COOK may be called as a witness in the upcoming trial, according to her lawyer.
Brinkley's legal team have called on Diane Bianchi, whose alleged affair with Cook reportedly led to the couple's split, to testify at the trial next month (Jul08) in Long Island, New York.
Bianchi became a tabloid sensation in 2006 after it was reported that she become romantically involved with Cook while she was his teenage assistant. She went on to sue Cook and settled for an undisclosed sum out of court last year (07).
And the divorce, which was filed for by Brinkley in 2006 after reports of the alleged affair surfaced, has made headlines again this month (Jun08), after the former model won the right to keep the proceedings open to the public in a motion filed last week (19Jun08) - despite protests from Cook and their children's guardian Theresa Mari.
Now, Brinkley's legal team have set their sights on Bianchi - calling her as a witness at the trial.
Joseph Tacopina, Bianchi's attorney, tells People.com, "She's been subpoenaed to testify, and if called to testify, she will testify truthfully."
And the lawyer insists Bianchi has been nothing but an innocent victim: "She in a lot of ways is a very composed young lady and in a lot of ways a young girl.
"She struggled with this and her family struggled. The way it was brought to the public's attention is not the way anyone wants to be known."
Yet Tacopina found the legal proceedings the perfect opportunity to publicise his client's talents, he added, "She's a budding young singer with a terrific voice. She's dabbling in a bunch of things and also trying to keep her anonymity."
